Clinic
The purpose of the clinic is to meet physical needs. It is RHFH’s desire that any work we accomplish to meet medical needs of an individual will allow us the opportunity to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Clinic is an outpatient clinic in rural Haiti that is operated by Real Hope for Haiti. It provides a variety of medical services to the surrounding communities. These services include, but are not limited to, health care education, preventative medicine , pre-natal care, primary care (including treatment of infectious diseases, hypertension, diabetes, malnutrition, etc.), limited emergency services, minor surgeries, wound care, as well as limited lab services. The clinic also dispenses medicines required for the treatment of the illness that is presented.
Rescue Center
The Real Hope For Haiti Rescue Center is presently an extension of the clinic. The Rescue Center is a facility provided primarily for young children who are treated in the clinic and are diagnosed as having 2nd or 3rd degree malnutrition as determined by the United Nations. After the clinic nurses treat the patient and educate the parents/guardians on malnutrition, a decision is made with the parents/guardians of the malnourished child as to whether to admit them to the RC, which is an extended care facility. The RC is a place where these severely malnourished children receive 24 hour medical care and a regimented diet, until they are a proper weight and healthy enough to return home. Before the child is discharged into the care of a parent/ guardian, they receive nutrition education in an attempt to prevent the child from further problems with malnutrition. Most toddlers stay from 4-6 months (babies stay 18 months), and the average population of the rescue center is between 60-70 children at any given time.
